The death of a 10-year-old shot during a Pleasantville High School football game last year left the area devastated.
But the community vowed to keep Micah Tennant's memory alive.
A park would be dedicated to the young boy who dreamed of becoming a DJ, Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small promised at Micah's funeral in November.
Now, that will become a reality, Small announced this weekend.
The Micah "Dew" Tennant Park will be made official Memorial Day weekend, Small said.
He met with Dew's family Friday, showing them the plans for the park off North Maryland Avenue, near where the boy grew up.
Micah Tennant always had a smile on his face and a determination beyond his years.
“His energy was incredible,” said Altarik Gatti Wright, who lovingly referred to him as “Lil Head.” “You could tell he was destined to be someone great in this world.”
But the little boy who dreamed of being a DJ had his life ended at 10, when what the prosecutor has called “petty vengeance” out of Atlantic City erupted in gunfire on the bleachers at the Pleasantville High School football field, where the fifth-grader was watching his cousin in the playoffs against Camden.From songs to marches to billboards, the community has continued to honor the memory of "Dew."
