All Catholic schools in the Camden Diocese have been temporarily closed due to the coronavirus, Bishop Dennis Sullivan announced Saturday. The schools likely will be closed at least two weeks, he said. But his Office of Catholic Schools staff will continue to monitor the COVID-19 issue and determine when reopening schools would be appropriate. Each school has an extensive plan for remote learning, with each day of completed lessons counting toward the required 180 days, Sullivan said."These plans will immediately be put into action by our principals who will communicate them to parents and students," he said. "I encourage our students and families to follow the directives from the New Jersey Department of Health and Human Services as we all work together for the common good, to slow and prevent the spread of the virus."
Sullivan said that, while he knows this could put an enormous burden on working parents, "the seriousness of this health crisis is unprecedented and demands the action we are taking."
"Please join me in praying for the health of our students, their families, our dedicated faculties, administrators and staffs, and for all people as together we bear the effects of this worldwide pandemic," he added.
