  • News

At least one of two MAAC officials who tested positive for COVID-19 worked games in Atlantic City, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference said.
Two MAAC officials have the novel strain of coronavirus, and at least one of them was on the floor for March 10 and 11 games at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall, the organization said.
The announcement was made "out of an abundance of caution... (and) in conjunction with the Collegiate Officiating Consortium of which we are a member," the MAAC said in a statement.
"We continue to adhere to the guidance issued by the CDC and federal and state governments in these unprecedented times and we encourage our fans to do the same," the MAAC said.
The games were Manhattan vs. Fairfield first-round game on March 10 and Manhattan vs. Siena quarterfinal game on March 11.
The remainder of the tournament was canceled beginning March 13, amid concerns over the coronavirus.
At that time, the MAAC Council of Presidents also unanimously voted to cancel all spring sports competitions, practices and other athletic-related activities.
