An 18-year-old Mullica Township woman is among nine deaths newly attributed to COVID-19.The woman along with eight Atlantic County long-term care residents bring to 86 the number of deaths from coronavirus-related complications in the county.All nine had underlying conditions that put them at higher risk, health officials said Tuesday.Seven of the new deaths were from Preferred Care at Absecon, formerly Absecon Manor.They were two 80-year-old men, two 80-year-old women, an 88-year-old man, and women ages 81 and 90.A 77-year-old man living at Complete Care at Linwood also died.Atlantic County health officials also reported 34 new positives, including a 9-year-old boy. There were 19 women ages 24 to 98.
The new cases include 10 in Atlantic City, eight in Galloway Township, five in Egg Harbor Township and three in Northfield.
Hamilton Township, Hammonton and Ventnor each had two new cases while Pleasantville and Somers Point each had one.
The total cases in the county now are 1,564 residents, with 351 officially recovered.
Atlantic County will continue next Tuesday and Thursday, by appointment, for symptomatic county residents with a doctor’s prescription, proof of residency and appointment confirmation.
Atlantic County has tested 1,053 residents to date with 25.9 percent confirmed as positive. The statewide positivity rate is around 28 percent, the governor said Friday.
Testing is 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Residents may make an appointment for testing online at www.aclink.org. In addition to the doctor’s prescription, residents must also provide proof of residency, such as a driver’s license or utility bill, as well as the appointment confirmation.
As always, those who are unable to keep their appointments are asked to cancel so that others will have an opportunity to be tested.
