The weekend offered highs and lows in how Atlantic County is being impacted by the coronavirus.Health officials on Saturday announced 14 deaths attributed to COVID-19. Then on Sunday, had no new deaths.The weekend saw 64 newly confirmed cases, including two 9-year-olds, a boy and a girl.Saturday's reported deaths included four men from Pleasantville ages, 51 to 80, three men from Hammonton, two from Linwood, and women from Absecon, Atlantic City, Galloway Township, Ventnor and Egg Harbor City.The new confirmations include 14 from Atlantic City, 11 from Galloway Township, nine from Pleasantville, eight from Egg Harbor Township, five from Hammonton and four from Absecon.Hamilton Township and Somers Point each had three, Buena Vista Township and Linwood had two each, and Brigantine, Northfield and Ventnor each had one newly confirmed case.The total number of cases countywide are 2,014 with 144 deaths and 712 residents cleared as recovered.
Atlantic County will continue testing, but the location has moved to provide greater protection from the elements in the event of bad weather, officials said.The county test site is now in Northfield, behind the county's Public Works facility at Route 9 and Dolphin Avenue.The next testing dates will be from 10 a.m. to 1p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.Residents must have symptoms, a prescription and an appointment.Appointments can be made on the county web site at www.aclink.org. Those who are unable to keep their appointments are asked to cancel so others may have an opportunity to be tested.
