A local DJ has a purpose behind the music for a string of upcoming events.
Kyshawn Wyman -- who goes by IamYoungHitta -- is working with the Atlantic City NAACP and the National NAACP Next Gen Program to encourage young people to vote.
The movement will begin with a virtual Facebook Live party at 6 p.m. Friday.
"It's very important for the youth to vote," Wyman said. "It's important that they know their voice counts and matters."
Wyman has worked with youth, including those who are at-risk or have special needs, including adolescents in the juvenile system.
Wyman's career has been taking off, with jobs opening for artists like DMX, En Vogue, New Edition and NBA Young Boy.
He just got off the road with Gucci Mane’s first signee to his record label 1017 Eskimo Records Asian Doll as the exclusive DJ for her new cosmetic line, Da Doll Store in Atlanta, Ga.
But said he continues to want to help both the local youth and those looking for careers in music.

A second party is set for 9 p.m. Oct. 10.
