'Black Lives Matter' now permanent part of Atlantic City street

  • News

Atlantic City residents gathered to help paint "Black Lives Matter" in the street in front of the Civil Rights Garden on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
Mayor Marty Small reached out to Dennis Badger and Kenneth Lazan Faulkner Jr. to map out the design, said Badger, who owns Badger Painting.
They measured everything out Thursday along the area that he said is 554 feet long and 40 feet high.
"It was a whole lot of math," Badger said. "We had to make sure the spacing was correct."
On the letters without a straight line, Faulkner was the artist, Badger said.
The project involved 150 gallons of paint, including 80 gallons donated by Joseph Jingoli of Hard Rock.
"It was an honor to be a part of something like this," Badger said. "The love we're receiving is amazing."
