Park honoring slain 10-year-old Micah Tennant to be dedicated on his birthday

  • News

Micah Tennant would have turned 11 on Wednesday.
Instead, the Atlantic City boy's memory will be permanently honored with the renaming of the Maryland Avenue playground.
The boy known as "Dew" was shot while watching Pleasantville High School's football team in a playoff game Nov. 15. He died days later, never regaining consciousness.
But his mother and those who loved him choose to remember Dew as he lived: singing and dancing to music, joking with his family and dreaming of being a D.J.
A ceremony at 3 p.m. will officially name the Micah "Dew" Tennant Park, on the playground off North Maryland Avenue, where Dew grew up.
The park was originally set to be dedicated on Memorial Day, but got postponed.
"We are so grateful to the mayor and other Atlantic City officials who decided to pay tribute to Micah's beautiful but all too short life by naming his favorite neighborhood playground in his honor," the family said through their attorney, Oliver Barry.
