  • News

Two Atlantic City residents were arrested with a handgun after being stopped for suspected drug distribution.
Detectives Alberto Valles and Darrin Lorady were conducting surveillance in the 1100 block of Baltic Avenue in response to complaints about drug dealing, Lt. Kevin Fair said.
They saw Samir Ross leave a residence in the block and start a drug deal with the driver of a vehicle that pulled up, according to the report.
Ross, 18, got into the car and the driver, Michele Stark, drove away, Fair said.
The detectives stopped the car and saw drug paraphernalia inside, according to the report.
After the two got out of the car, Lorady saw a laser attachment for a firearm to assist in aiming, Fair siad.
A loaded handgun was then found inside the car along with a marijuana cigarette.
After Ross was arrested, he was found with 36 bags of heroin, according to the charges.
He and Stark, 50, were both jailed on drug and weapons charges.
Anyone with information about the distribution of narcotics are asked to call the Police Department's Special Investigations Section at 609-347-5858 or anonymously text tip411 (847411, beginning the text with ACPD.
