A Pleasantville man allegedly had 500 bags of heroin and his 2-year-old daughter in the car when he was pulled over by Atlantic City police Thursday.
Robert Hart first attracted police attention when Sgt. Charles Stuart and Detective Chris Dodson saw him driving, knowing Hart's license was suspended, Lt. Kevin Fair said.
The detectives turned their car around to stop Hart, when they saw him pulled to the corner and engaged in a drug deal with a woman, according to the report.
After Hart pulled off, the officers tried to stop his car, but he continued driving for several blocks before stopping in the 4300 block of North Drive.
Inside were Hart, the 2-year-old girl and heroin, according to the report.
Hart, 36, was arrested. As he was being walked to the patrol car, he started to resist, threatening Dodson and then kicking the officer.
Dodson was treated at the scene for an injury.
The girl was turned over to her mother.
Hart is charged with several drug offenses, along with money laundering, child endangerment, resisting arrest and two counts of assault on a police officer.
He was taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
