Atlantic City man allegedly shot man and himself

  • News

An Atlantic City man released from prison in November is in jail after allegedly shooting a man and wounding himself early Wednesday morning.
Police were called to the first block of South Bellevue Avenue for a reported shooting just after 4 a.m., Lt. Kevin Fair said.
They found a 21-year-old Atlantic City man with a gunshot wound to leg.
Officers Brandon Bower and Matthew Talavera started to give the victim aid, with Talavera applying a tourniquet to slow the bleeding, Fair said.
The man, whose name was not released, was then taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus for treatment of the injury, which was not considered life-threatening.
While detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit were investigating, they got a call that Ricky Hill II had arrived at Shore Medical Center in Somers Point with a gunshot wound.
It was then found that Hill shot the victim, and is believed to have wounded himself, Fair said.
He was arrested at the hospital and charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and certain person not to possess a weapon.
Hill is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending a detention hearing.
He was released from Northern State Prison on Nov. 4, after serving time on weapon and theft charges.
