Several fire departments were able to keep a large debris fire from spreading to the woods in Galloway Township on Sunday afternoon.
Firefighters and Galloway police responded to Groff's Recycling Center on Clarks Landing Road at 2:42 p.m., and found a large debris pile engulfed in flames, Office Ronald Gorneau said.
Germania, Port Republic and Pomona fire departments were first on scene, and were able to quickly contain the blaze, according to the report.
Fire departments from Galloway Township, Egg Harbor Township, Somers Point, Mays Landing and the Atlantic City responded to extinguish the fire.
The cause is currently under investigation.
No injuries were reported.
Stockton Police Department, NJ State Police, Galloway Township Ambulance Squad, AtlantiCare Paramedics, Atlantic County OEM, Galloway Township OEM and fire departments from Bayview, Oceanville, South Egg Harbor, Elwood, Weekstown, Somers Point, New Gretna and West Tuckerton assisted.
