An Atlantic City man has been indicted in the drug-related death of a Burlington County woman two years ago.
Kahlil Carpenter, now 30, allegedly sold fentanyl-laced heroin to Holly Morris on Dec. 14, 2019.
The 37-year-old woman was found unconscious and unresponsive in her bed in Evesham Township that same day.
An autopsy found she died of fentanyl toxicity, with levels in her system five times greater than the amount necessary to cause death, according to the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office.
Carpenter was indicted on charges of strict liability for drug-induced death, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession with intent to distribute and distribution.
Carpenter has been in the Burlington County Jail since Sept. 1.
