Galloway Township police are looking for a driver who struck a police officer and fled the scene.
Sgt. Patrick Neal was assisting a disabled motor vehicle on the side of East Jimmie Leeds Road near Second Avenue when he was struck by a white Jeep Wrangler the fled west, Lt. Christopher McGinty said.
Neal saw the Jeep a second before it hit him and stepped back, likely saving him from more serious injury or death, McGinty said.
Neal's left hand and wrist were struck.
He was taken to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's Mainland Campus, for treatment of his injuries.
Neal has since been released from the hospital and is good condition, McGinty said.
Anyone who can identifying the driver or vehicle is asked to call Galloway Township police at 609-652-3705.
