An armed Egg Harbor Township man who refused to surrender to police was tasered before being taken into custody, police said.
Officers were called to Ivins Avenue in the township's Cardiff section at 2:17 p.m. Sunday for a wanted man possibly in possession of a handgun, Lt. Robert Gray said.
When police arrived, Prentiss Blaylock was uncooperative and exhibited threatening behavior while armed with a handgun, according to the report.
Police tried to negotiate with Blaylock for several minutes, but could not get him to surrender peacefully, Gray said.
A Taser was then deployed, Blaylock was taken into custody without further incident.
He was charged with possession of a handgun, possession of hollow-point bullets, possession of a large-capacity magazine, eluding and obstruction.
Blaylock, 34, also had a no-bail warrant for a domestic violence incident that took place in the township, and a warrant for fraud and theft by deception out of Gloucester County, Gray said.
He was treated at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus, and is now in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
Blaylock was sentenced to three years in prison in 2016 in a theft by deception case out of Cumberland County, records show.
