Police report sparks investigation at Galloway charter school

  • News

An investigation is ongoing into allegations made against a teacher at a Galloway Township charter school.

A police report was filed concerning the Atlantic Community Charter School, BreakingAC confirmed, but no other information is being released since no charges have been filed at this time and the case involves a juvenile.

The unnamed teacher has been put on leave pending a full investigation, Principal Shelly Ward Richards wrote in a letter to student families.

“Our highest priority is always the safety and well-being of our students,” according to a statement released to BreakingAC by the school.

“Each member of our faculty and staff undergoes thorough evaluation and background screening before ever being brought into our school or put in contact with our students,” the statement reads. “In the event there is a credible accusation of wrongdoing or a concern for the safety of students, any appropriate staff is suspended pending thorough investigation by the school and relevant outside agencies. We have a clear and effective protocol in place for such matters.”

The school does not comment on specific details for anything involving individual or personnel issue.
