Brigantine police are looking for help identifying an attempted burglar.
Police were called to the 700 block of East Beach Avenue at about 2 p.m. Friday for a burglary in progress, police said.
A witness told officers that the man pictured arrived in a gray sedan approached the rear of an unoccupied residence and try to force the rear door open with a crowbar.
A witness confronted the man, who fled. While he was driving, he struck a telephone pole, which caused the grille of his vehicle to fall off, and it was left behind, according to the report.
Using the grille, police identified the vehicle as a Honda sedan. It’s believed to be a four-door vehicle with a Pennsylvania registration. It is now missing its grille and front bumper, which was believed to be missing prior to the accident.
Anyone who knows the identity or whereabouts of this person or vehicle is asked to contact Brigantine police at 609-266-7414.
