A Cape May man allegedly manipulated photos of local women, then posted them to an online sexual fetish site, according to charges announced by the Cape May County prosecutor Tuesday.
John Abadie Jr., 27, is accused of lifting the pictures off the women's social media, and then altering them onto pornographic images and sharing them to a thread on the unnamed website called "Whores from my town."
More than 15 women have been women have been identified as victims. Abadie is currently charged with 27 counts of cyber harassment, a fourth-degree crime, Prosecutor Jeffrey Sutherland said.
Two women, ages 27 and 28, first went to Lower Township police Jan. 31, saying they found images of themselves posted there, according to the affidavit of probable cause obtained by BreakingAC.
The pictures were posted by "Kingj23."
When Drew Blanda found his wife was a victim, he started his own investigation that eventually led to a selfie of Kingj23, who was identified as Abadie.
"Once I handed the selfie over, that was the smoking gun and they arrested him and gained access to all his tech property," he told BreakingAC.
Blanda has been keeping people updated on his Facebook page, including posting a photo of Abadie, saying he was motivated by his love for his wife and wanting to protect the other victims.
Detectives were able to subpoena the site to get information about Kingj23, the affidavit states. The site's legal department said that the information had been deleted by the user, but gave his email as abadiejabs@gmail.com.
Social media posts showed family members refer to Abadie as Jabs.
An account under Kingj232323 on Reddit posted images of one of the women to a subreddit titled "NJsluts." In comments, that user said they would exchange images with people via the messaging app Kik, and requested others message them.
That account also traced back to Abadie's gmail, according to the affidavit.
Abadie seems to have removed all his social media, or locked it down so it's not publicly accessible.
Abadie was not jailed on the charges, so no mugshot was available. Fourth-degree charges carry a term of as long as 365 days in county jail, a release from Sutherland's office states. The investigation is ongoing.
