Two Galloway men arrested with guns in EHC car stop, sheriff says

  • News

Two Galloway Township men who have served time for weapons offenses were arrested with guns during a car stop, Sheriff Eric Scheffler said.
Sheriff's Officer Matthew Gorham was helping patrol in Egg Harbor City when he stopped the suspects' vehicle Wednesday for motor vehicle violations, Scheffler said.
The driver allegedly tried to flee the scene but was stopped a short distance later.
The officer recovered two loaded 9mm handguns, about 200 bag of suspected heroin and about an ounce of suspected cocaine.
David Trettner, 37, and Elijah Metts, 31, were charged with drug and gun charges, including certain person not to possess a weapon, possession of a defaced firearm and eluding.
Trettner, pictured above in his state Department of Corrections photo, was just released from home confinement in September, in a drug and guns conviction for which he served about four years.
Metts was sentenced to five years in prison in 2014, for a certain persons not to possess a weapon conviction, records show. It was not immediately clear when he was released.
Both men remain in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
