Ocean City police seek help ID'ing suspect in assault, attempted luring of girl

  • News

Ocean City police are asking for help identifying a man in the assault and attempted luring of a juvenile girl last year.
The attack happened at about 11:45 a.m. Sept. 5, in the area of 18th Street and Central Avenue, police said in asking for help Tuesday.
In addition to the assault, the man tried to lure the girl to his vehicle, police said.
Photos of the man and the Jeep have been released.
He is described as a 6-foot-tall white male approximately 50 to 60, weighing about 230 pounds.
He was driving a newer model black Jeep Grand Cherokee with an unknown Pennsylvania license plate.
The vehicle has dark tint on the front and rear windows.
Police put out a similar post two days after the attack. But that did not mention the attempted luring or that the victim was a juvenile.
Anyone who recognizes the man is asked to call Detective Matt Crowley at 609-525-9133 or email him at mcc@ocnj.us, or Sgt. Dan Lancaster at 609-525-9128 or dlancaster@ocnj.us. Callers may remain anonymous.
