Witnesses help free EHT woman after crash

  • News

Witnesses rushed to an Egg Harbor Township woman's aid after her SUV landed on its side in a township crash Wednesday morning.
Marleny Taborda was heading east on the Black Horse Pike when she went through a red light at Tilton Road, and struck a van, police said.
The van's driver, Edwin Watts, was making a left turn onto the Black Horse Pike to head west when he was struck, Lt. Robert Gray said.
The impact caused Taborda's Nissan X-terra to rotate and overturn, according to the report.
Several motorists rushed to the vehicle and were able to get Taborda out of the vehicle and to safety until emergency crews arrived, Gray said.
Taborda, 64, was treated at the scene by Egg Harbor Township EMS and then taken to Shore Medical Center for further evaluation.
Watts, 75, of Somers Point, was not injured.
Summonses are pending further investigation by Officer Nick Poletis.
Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to contact the Traffic Safety Unit at 609-926-4045
