An Atlantic City man who served prison time on gun and robbery charges was arrested this week with a handgun in his vehicle, police said.
Breyon Sylvester was arrested Sunday, days after detectives on surveillance recovered two loaded handguns in the 1600 block of Arctic Avenue on June 25, Lt. Kevin Fair said Friday.
The surveillance is part of a proactive move from Atlantic City police in light of violence in and around the city, Fair said.
A handgun was found inside Sylvester's vehicle, with another found in a bag near a trash dumpster, according to the report.
Richard Pugh, 25, of Galloway Township, was charged with the discarded gun, Fair said.
Both men have prior convictions that make it illegal for them to have guns, according to the charges.
Sylvester was released from prison in 2019, after serving a sentence for robbery, weapons and drug convictions, records show.
He and Pugh are now charged with drug and weapons offenses.
Sylvester was arrested Sunday, along with three Atlantic City men police found with him on the Boardwalk.
Raishawn Simmons, 20; Christian Hunter, 29, and Dequay Belt, 18, were charged as part of a continuing investigation that led to the recovery of 850 bags of heroin, 110 grams of cocaine and items consistent with narcotics distribution, Fair said.
Simmons was jailed on a contempt of court warrant.
Hunger and Belt were released on summonses.
