Atlantic City police looking for witnesses to councilman's assault

Atlantic City police are looking for a man and woman who they believe witnesses the assault of a city councilman Thursday night.
Police were called to a parking lot at the intersection of Florida and Atlantic avenues at 10:45 p.m., and found MD Hossain Morshed injured.
The Fourth Ward councilman had a swollen left eye and bloodied face a photo from his hospital bed shows.
No arrests have been made.
Morshed, 47, was taken to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus for treatment.
Detectives are attempting to identify and speak with a man and woman who are believed to have been present at the time of the assault and left immediately after, Lt. Kevin Fair said.
The man is described as a 5-foot-5 Black man about 35 to 40 years old, wearing a red shirt. The woman was described only as Black or Hispanic wearing a jean shirt and shorts. The pair left in a dark colored four-door sedan traveling north on Florida Avenue from Atlantic Avenue.
