An Atlantic City man struck while riding a bike was arrested after he allegedly dropped a stolen handgun.
Dennis Rodgers was struck at the intersection of Connecticut and Grammercy avenues at 10:49 p.m. Monday, Lt. Kevin Fair said.
A witness told Officers William Luengas-Gonzalez and Melvin Murray III that Rodgers dropped a handgun from a satchel when he fell to the ground, according to the report.
Rodgers then picked up the gun and put it back in the bag, the witness said.
The officers found the satchel with the handgun inside, Fair said. It had been reported stolen from North Carolina.
Rodgers, 22, was arrested without incident, and taken to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.
The driver of the vehicle was not injured..
The crash investigation is being conducted by Officer Fitzroy Simpson.
Rodgers is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and receiving stolen property.
He is not yet listed as being at the jail.
