Man wounded by gunfire in Hammonton

A Hammonton man was wounded by gunfire after hearing a shot fired near his property, police said.
Officers were called to the 700 block of North First Road at 5:11 a.m., and spoke to the 32-year-old victim, according to the report.
He told police he went out of the back of his home, and heard a shot in the wooded area of his property.
He then hear two more shots, and was struck, police said.
The man, whose name was not released, was taken to the hospital. His injuries were not considered life-threatening.
There does not appear to be a public safety concern for area residents at this time, police said.
Hammonton police are investigating.
