An investigation into a suspicious man on the Linwood bike path earlier this month has been cleared with no one charged.
A report filed with Linwood police on March 7, said that a white male with a brown and gray beard reached in the direction of a 10-year-old girl as she rode her bike on the path between Seaview and Patcong avenues.
Patrol officers responding to the area did not locate anyone matching that description.
Detectives then collected and reviewed video surveillance from multiple cameras in the area, police said.
After that review, interviews and other relevant facts, police closed the case with no further action.
Patrols have been increased along the bike path.
"We want to assure our residents, visitors and business owners that the bike path is safe," police said in a statement. "Everyone, especially children, should be aware of their surroundings, maintain a safe distance from strangers and travel in groups when possible."
