Three teens tried to steal a delivery driver’s car in Pleasantville but were stopped by the stick shift, police said.
Two 15-year-old from Pleasantville and one from Atlantic City then beat the driver as he returned to his car in the 300 block of West Washington Avenue, Lt. Stacey Schlachter said.
Two of the teens had gotten into the 2006 Honda Civic but were apparently stumped them, according to the report.
When the driver came, the two teens inside got out and began punching the victim, Schlachter said. A third teen then joined in, punching and kicking him while the victim was on the ground.
All three teens were charged with carjacking, conspiracy to commit carjacking, aggravated assault, and conspiracy to commit aggravated assault.
They were taken to the Harborfields Juvenile Detention Center.
