Mullica Township police are organizing a search for a missing man Saturday morning.
James Griffiths, 61, who lives in the township’s Sweetwater section, has been missing since Oct. 24.
He suffers from physical and mental handicaps, police said. Griffiths has memory loss and may appear confused when first approached.
“We are looking for able-bodied people to help search the woods,” Mullica Township Mayor Kristi Hanselmann posted on Facebook.
Griffiths has a history of walking in heavily wooded areas within the township, police said.
He also uses public transportation and is known to frequent Egg Harbor City, Absecon and Atlantic City, specifically the casinos.
The group is meeting at 9 a.m. at the Sweetwater Fire Company.
Anyone interested in joining should text their name to 609-226-0955.
They are asking that no children come.
Griffiths is about 5-foot-8 and weights 210 pounds, with hazel eyes and a gray beard. He has a deer tattoo on his right bicep and wears prescription glasses.
It’s not known what he may be wearing.
Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Sgt. Paul Sarraf at 609-561-7600, ext. 150 or Detective Andrew Symuleski at 609-561-7600, ext. 153.
