An Atlantic City man is wanted in a fatal shooting a month ago.
Umar Abdullah, 45, is charged with murder and weapons offenses in the Oct. 10 shooting, in the first block of South Georgia Avenue, acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Cary Shill announced Tuesday.
Police were called to the area just after 4 a.m., and found Mark Wright, 35, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim’s name was not previously made public. He was from Atlantic City.
Abdullah also goes by the names James Coger III and James Collins.
Under Collins, he has several prior convictions, including a 2014 gun and drugs case. He was sentenced to five years in prison in 2016, and had to serve at least 3½ years before parole eligibility, according to court records.
Abdullah, goes by the nicknames Munchie and O, also faces a charge of possession of a weapon by a certain person not to possess a weapon.
He is described as 5-foot-5, weighing 190 to 210 pounds.
He recently had waist-length dreadlocks, but it’s not known if that is still true, Shill said.
Abdullah is presumed dangerous by authorities, and the public should contact local police if he is seen.
Anyone who knows his whereabouts is asked to call the Major Crimes Unit through the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Department at (609) 909-7200. Information may also be texted anonymously to tip411 (847411) beginning the text with ACPD.
