Bridgeton man gets 45 years for killing good Samaritan

  • News

A Bridgeton man who killed the driver who offered him a ride was sentenced to 45 years in prison Tuesday.
Jule Hannah, 39, was found guilty in July of murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, and possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose in the 2017 killing.
Miguel Lopez, 53, was found unresponsive behind the wheel his vehicle Jan. 15, 2017, after it crashed into a tree in a front yard in the 400 block of Spruce Street in Bridgeton.
An investigation found that Hannah had been in a motor vehicle crash in Monroe Township, shortly before the killing.
Lopez was driving in that area and agreed to drive Hannah to Bridgeton.
There, Hannah shot the Vineland man four times. He was arrested in July of last year.
Hannah must serve at least 85 percent of his sentence, or 38 years and three months.
