An allegedly drunken-driver was injured when a car struck him while he was inspecting damage from another accident in Egg Harbor Township.
Christian Temple, 20, of Morganville, Monmouth County, was involved in a crash in the left lane of the Black Horse Pike and Spruce Avenue at about 2:20 a.m. Thursday, police said.
He was outside his vehicle inspecting damage to the other vehicle when he stepped into the inside westbound lane and was struck by a woman driving west.
Nancy Tay, 81, of Sicklerville, struck Temple, who suffered serious injuries that were not considered life-threatening, Lt. Robert Gray said.
Temple was charged with driving while intoxicated for the first crash.
The pike was closed for about four hours while police investigated.
Officers Patrick Daly and Benjamin Kollman are investigating. Traffic citations are pending.
