A Tuckerton man was allegedly under the influence when he struck and killed a pedestrian in Egg Harbor Township.
Michael Doyle was arrested Wednesday in the Monday morning crash on charges including vehicular homicide and assault by auto.
Anthony Swezeny, 33, was walking north across the Black Horse Pike in the area of English Creek Avenue at about 8:25 a.m., when he was struck by an eastbound SUV driven by Doyle, township police Lt. Robert Gray said.
Swezeny suffered multiple traumatic injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, Gray said.
Doyle's vehicle also struck a van driven by Joseph Avellino, 59, of the township.
Doyle and his passenger, 28-year-old Brittney Trapp of Tuckerton, were treated at the scene and taken to AtlantiCare Regional Center's City Campus.
But also in the car was a 1-year-old girl, Lt. Stephen Slusarski told BreakingAC.
Doyle was charged with endangering the welfare of that child, along with possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
The child was properly restrained in her car seat, Slusarski said.
Doyle is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending a detention hearing.
Sgt. Larry Graham, and Officers Robert Moran and Benjamin Kollman are investigating. The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office assisted.
NOTE: The Atlantic County Justice Facility is not allowed to release mugshots to the public under a still-in-place directive by the former Atlantic County prosecutor.
