An Atlantic County sex offender released following a detention hearing last week still has not registered his address, BreakingAC has confirmed.
Milton Snead was 44 years old in 2002, when he pleaded guilty to second-degree sexual assault in the rape of a 14-year-old girl in Atlantic City. He was sentenced to five years in prison.
Since then, he has had multiple violations for failure to register or follow the terms of his lifetime supervision, according to information released during his detention hearing last week.
One of those violations landed him back in prison last year, state Department of Corrections records show.
Anyone searching him online would think he was still in prison, since the registry has him as "inactive-incarcerated."
But Snead was released Jan. 7. At that time, he had 48 hours to register his address. Before his release, he provided an "intended address" in Pleasantville, according to court records.
But four days after Snead got out of prison, the state didn't know where he was. His parole officer signed a complaint for the violation in Pleasantville.
Snead was arrested March 30, in Hamilton Township.
His attorney argued that Snead was trying to get things together when he was arrested, and noted that he had a job at Popeye's. The judge released Snead, with a promise that he would register within 48 hours. That was a week ago.
The N.J. State Police confirmed Snead has not registered.
His online registry shows his last address as 423 Atlantic Ave., Egg Harbor City. But that is an old address, and he does not live there, BreakingAC confirmed.
"Since his release from incarceration, Mr. Snead has not registered or made an appointment to register with the Egg Harbor City Police Department," Police Chief Marcella Aylwin said.
Pleasantville had his last address as Delmont, Cumberland County. That is the location of Southern State Correctional Facility, where Snead served his sentence.
