A Maryland man died in a one-car crash Monday.
Thomas Eugene Rogers, 51, was heading east on the Black Horse Pike in Hamilton Township just after 4 p.m., when he veered off the roadway and struck a tree, Detective Michael Tatum said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:15 p.m., Tatum said. No one else was in the car.
The eastbound lanes near milepost 42 were closed for about 2½ hours. New Jersey State Police and the state Department of Transportation assisted with the closure.
Township of Hamilton EMS, AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center paramedics, Weymouth Volunteer firefighters and the Atlantic County Medical Examiner's Office assisted at the scene.
