A Philadelphia man was arrested after police allegedly saw him trying to conceal a gun as he walked onto the Boardwalk on Sunday night.
Rahmiere Shaw-Floyd, 20, was with a group when Officers Christopher Campbell and Riley Flynn saw him from their post in the 1600 block of the Boardwalk near Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
As the officers began to follow him, they saw him try to hide behind the others in the group, Sgt. Paul Aristizabal said.
The officers continued to follow, and put out the information to other patrol units.
Shaw-Floyd then went onto the beach at New York Avenue, where he was stopped by responding officers, according to the report.
A handgun was then found in Shaw-Floyd’s waistband, Aristizabal said.
He was taken into custody without incident. The gun was found to have a high-capacity magazine and loaded with hollow-point bullets.
Shaw-Floyd is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon without obtaining a permit, possession of a high-capacity magazine and possession of hollow-point ammunition.
He is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
