Brigantine police are investigating a number of bags containing antisemitic literature being thrown on properties throughout the island.
The literature does not contain any threats, but is consistent with anti-Jewish flyers that news outlets have reported in other places around the country, police said.
Recent reports include similar baggies being thrown at homes in New York and Florida.
It appears the flyers have been randomly distributed overnight and are not targeting specific residences or businesses, police said. They are not releasing the flyers, but said they contain no threats.
Police are asking that neither the media nor public share the flyers, as that “will only contribute to the perpetrator(s) desired objective of spreading their hateful messages.”
Brigantine police are investigating it as a bias incident.
Any residents or businesses with surveillance video of the baggies being thrown are asked to contact Brigantine police at (609) 266-7414. Anyone with information about these incidents also should contact police.
