An Atlantic City man wanted in a domestic violence incident was arrested with a loaded handgun, police said.

Rakiy Newsome, 20, was seen walking in the areas of Florida and Fairmount avenues just after 11 a.m. Monday, Sgt. Paul Aristizabal said.

Officer Marquez Jones recognized Newsome as being wanted in a July 31 domestic incident, according to the report.

Jones stopped Newsome at the corner of Mississippi and Fairmount Avenues, Aristizabal said. He then found Newsome had a loaded handgun, and arrested him without incident.

The gun was fitted with a high-capacity magazine loaded with hollow-point bullets, Aristizabal said. It had been reported stolen from South Carolina.

Newsome was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of hollow-point ammunition, possession of a large-capacity magazine and receiving stolen property.

He is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.

Anyone with information about this accident is asked to call Atlantic City police at (609) 347-5766. Information may also be texted anonymously to tip411 (847411), beginning the text with ACPD.
