A Pennsylvania man turned himself in days after he allegedly strangled a woman during a road rage incident in North Wildwood.
Christopher Krier, 49, was driving aggressively and tailgating the vehicle in front of him Aug. 20, when the victim rolled down her window to comment on his driving due to children in the area, according to the report.
Krier and the victim, whose name was not released, pulled over to the side of the road near 13th and New Jersey avenues, and began walking toward one another, police said. Krier then attacked the woman, choking her.
A bystander stepped in and Krier fled in his vehicle, police said.
Officer Vincent Deritis investigated and issued a warrant for Krier, who turned himself Wednesday, according to the report and jail records.
Krier, who lives in Jamison, Penn., was charged with second-degree aggravated assault.
He has since been released from the Cape May County Correctional Facility.
The North Wildwood Police Department reminds the public that road rage incidents can quickly escalate.
“We advise the public to contact the police department to report aggressive driving, rather than taking things into their own hands,” the department said in a release.
