An Atlantic City drug dealer was sentenced to seven years in prison in the overdose death of a Burlington County woman.
Kahlil Carpenter, 31, pleaded guilty last month to first-degree strict liability for a drug-induced death, Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia Bradshaw said.
Holly Morris, 37, was found unconscious and unresponsive in her Evesham Township home Dec. 14, 2019.
An autopsy found the mother of three died of fentanyl toxicity with five times the lethal dose in her system, Bradshaw said.
Morris met Carpenter in Lumberton Township the day before to buy drugs, an investigation found.
“Fentanyl has destroyed so many families and devastated several of our communities,” Bradshaw said. “We must take extraordinary measures to offer protection against such harmful, and often deadly, effects.”
