A Philadelphia woman arrested with a loaded gun after reports of a woman shooting at a man was released on a summons Sunday.
Atlantic City police were called to the area of Indiana and Pacific avenues at 5:21 p.m. for a report of shots fired, Sgt. Paul Aristizabal said.
Responding officers found evidence of gunfire, but no victim, according to the report.
Witnesses told police that a woman was seen shooting at a man, and then getting into a tan minivan before leaving the area.
A description of the vehicle was put out to patrol units, with help from Surveillance Center personnel, Aristizabal said.
About 20 minutes later, Detectives Chris Ivanov, Eric Evans and Chris Dodson found a vehicle matching that description at the intersection of Tennessee and Arctic avenues, and it was pulled over, according to the report.
Various forms of drug paraphernalia were seen in the vehicle during the stop, Aristizabal said. The investigation also led to the recovery of a 9 mm semiautomatic handgun believed to have been used in the shooting.
The gun was loaded with hollow-point ammunition, according to the report.
The driver, Tierra Barnes, was taken into custody without incident.
Barnes, 27, was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of hollow-point ammunition and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was not charged with shooting the weapon or any assault. No victim was located.
She was released on a summons with a future court date. The judge did not approve a warrant, BreakingAC was told.
