A Camden County man is now charged with vehicular homicide in a crash that killed a Bridgeton man.
Regis Vitale Jr., 50, of Waterford Works, was under the influence of methamphetamine and marijuana when he crossed intot he other lane on Route 206 and struck a vehicle driven by Daryl "Skip" Akers, 62.
Vitale was heading south March 11, when he struck the northbound Akers around milepost 18.3 in Southampton Township, Burlington County, according to the investigation.
State Police administered life-saving measures to both men at the scene. Vitale was airlifted to an area hospital with serious injuries. Akers was pronounced dead at the scene.
Akers worked as a State Police public safety telecommunicator.
A search of Vitale's vehicles the next day found methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, THC and drug paraphernalia, police said.
Vitale is under house arrest, due to his injuries.
