Galloway man on probation in pill mill faces new drug charges

  • News

A Galloway Township man on probation for his part in a local narcotic pill mill was arrested on new drug charges Wednesday.

David Blocker, 53, was the target of a month-long investigation by the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office Guns, Gangs and Narcotics Unit, acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Cary Shill said.

Search warrants were served Thursday at a home in the 300 block of Xanthus Avenue, along with two vehicles, with help from the Intelligence Unit and Galloway Township police, Shill said.

Officers recovered about 51.7 grams of crack cocaine, about six doses of 80 mg each of methadone, $924 in cash, a digital scale and a cell phone, according to the report.

Blocker is charged with second-degree distribution of crack cocaine, along with third-degree counts of possession of crack cocaine and distribution of methadone.

He already is on probation from a 2017 manufacturing/distribution of a controlled dangerous substance conviction related to his part in a drug ring led by an Egg Harbor Township family and fueled by oxycodone prescriptions from a North Jersey doctor.

Craig Gialanella was given a five-year suspended sentence in 2019, after pleading guilty to an accusation of manufacturing/distributing Oxycontin.

His part in the so-called Operation Oxy Highway included writing 413 prescriptions for about 50,000 oxycodone 30 mg tablets in the names of 30 “patients” from Atlantic County from Jan. 1 to Dec. 7, 2016.

His license was also suspended for at least five years.

Blocker is currently in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
