An Atlantic County public defender allegedly assaulted a first responder while in police custody for a DUI in Somers Point.
Police were called to Charlie's Bar in Somers Point on Sunday for a motor vehicle collision in the parking lot, Chief Robert Somers said.
An investigation found that the driver was under the influence when she struck a parked car, according to the report. No injuries were reported.
Mary Linehan, 56, of Linwood, was charged with driving under the influence and careless driving.
While at the Somers Point Police Department, an ambulance was called "due to concerning behavior," Somers said.
Linehan allegedly assaulted an EMT while en route to Shore Medical Center.
The unnamed EMT signed an aggravated assault complaint, which is under review by the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office, Somers said.
A spokeswoman for the office said they are not reviewing anything.
Linehan gained attention as one of two attorneys who represented Ferdinand Augello in his trial for the killing of local radio personality and veterans advocate April Kauffman. Augello is currently serving life plus 30 years for the murder and his part in a drug ring.
In 2019, another murder suspect she was representing attacked her during a court hearing, leaving her with a separated shoulder.
Linehan did not return a request seeking comment about her arrest.
