The body of a man was found in the water off Longport Boulevard in Egg Harbor Township, BreakingAC has confirmed.
Captain Edward Cairns, 71, was a well-known township man who lived on his vessel, Capt. Heath Per said.
Cairns had been a resident of the township for more than three decades.
It is believed he may have fallen off his boat and was unable to make it back onboard, according to police.
Police are awaiting results of an autopsy. The death is not believed to be suspicious at this time.
Detectives Michael Santoro and Robert Harte of the Criminal Investigations Bureau are investigating.
