A Millville woman was sentenced to 10 years in prison in the death of her husband in 2020.
Katheleen Ayala, now 33, claimed she was defending herself during an argument that turned physical when she stabbed her husband and fled.
Axel Torres, 35, died of his injuries.
Ayala claimed Torres head-butted her, leaving her with a concussion and a broken nose. Her mugshot at the time appeared to show bruises to her eyes and a cut across her nose.
Ayala chased him outside their Country Meadows mobile home Jan. 12, 2020, with a metal file from a pair of fingernail clippers and stabbed Torres.
He was left unconscious and bleeding from several stab wounds.
Ayala must serve at least 85 percent of her sentence, or 8½ years. She has credit for more than 800 days already served.
She was transferred to the Edna Mahan Correctional Facility on Wednesday., Ayala is eligible for release July 13, 2028.
