A student was stabbed during a fight in a Barnegat High School bathroom Friday morning.
A staff member told a school resource officer that there might have been an altercation between students involving a stabbing, police said.
Additional police officers responded with the SRO and found an unnamed student stabbed. The student was treated for injuries non considered life-threatening.
A shelter-in-place order was made.
An edged weapon was recovered. The Ocean County Sheriff's Department CSI Unit responded and processed the scene, collecting evidence, police said.
The shelter-in-place was lifted after officers and command staff determined there was no threat to student safety.
An investigation found that the student was stabbed during a fight among a group of juveniles, according to the report.
Charges are pending the completion of the ongoing investigation.
