Atlantic City raid gets drugs, guns, six arrests and $43,500

  • News

Four men are in jail and two more charged after an investigation into drug activity on an Atlantic City street.

Police recovered two loaded handguns, along with $43,500 believed to be from drug sales, Sgt. Paul Aristizabal said.

Citizen complaints brought a Vice Unit investigation to the first block of South Florida Avenue, according to the report.

Xavier Martin, 22, of Atlantic City, was already on probation for a cocaine conviction last year when he was allegedly found with drugs and a loaded handgun Thursday.

Martin and city resident Elijah Harris, 23, are charged with drug and weapons offenses, including possession of a "ghost gun" and a high-capacity magazine. A ghost gun is one that has no serial number so it can't be traced.

Both are in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.

Naheem Prater, 21, of Atlantic City, was issued a summons for drug charges related to the raid. But he is in the county jail, possibly related to his pending drug and gun charges in a case from last year.

The Atlantic City man found with more than 11 grams of heroin after resident complaints brought police to the 1000 block of Brigantine Boulevard in January 2021. Prater was in a car stopped in that area. A handgun found where he was sitting in the vehicle, police said at the time.

Knocomus Dixon, 31, of Atlantic City, was also charged with drug possession. He was just released from prison in November, after being sentenced to eight years in prison on drug charges.

He was awaiting sentencing in a 2017 case when he was arrested in 2020 drug raid at the High Gate.

Dixon and Darel Green, 39, of the city, were issued summonses on their drug charges and released.

Ismail Naji, 28, of Brigantine, was also arrested on drug charges Thursday. He was found to have an outstanding warrant, and is in the county jail.

The Atlantic County Justice Facility does not release mugshots under an order by the former prosecutor.
