Struggle over gun preceded Millville woman's killing, witnesses say

  • News

A Millville man and woman were seen struggling over a gun moments before the woman was fatally shot, witnesses told investigators.

Ramy Garcia was found dead in the backyard of a residence in the 400 block of North Fourth Street at about 4:24 p.m. Wednesday.

Two witnesses told police that Garcia and a man identified as Edwin Ramos-Rosado were struggling over a firearm, which discharged during the struggle, according to the affidavit of probable cause obtained by BreakingAC.

Once Ramos-Rosado gained control of the firearm, he shot Garcia once in the head, the affidavit states.

Ramos-Rosado fled the scene and later charged with murder.

The Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office put out a warning that night saying the suspect should be considered armed and dangerous.

Ramos-Rosado, 39, was apprehended the next day. Details of his capture have not been released.

But his mugshot shows him looking much different than the photo previously released by authorities. He no longer has a beard and mustache and his head is shaved. A tattoo on the left side of his neck is also now visible.

No information has been released about the pair's connection.

Ramos-Rosado is in the Cumberland County jail pending a detention hearing.
