A Pleasantville man admitted to possession of a weapon Thursday.
Hector Ortiz, 20, faces five years in prison with 3½ years of parole ineligibility when he is sentenced Jan. 5.
He was arrested Dec. 13, after Atlantic City police responded to the 2500 block of Pacific Avenue for the report of a man with a gun at a convenience store, according to the charges.
Police watched the area, and saw Ortiz, who matched the earlier description. He was seen frequently grabbing and adjusting the inside of his jacket pocket, which appeared to contain a large bulge, according to the report.
Detectives ordered him to stop, but instead he fled west on Pacific Avenue.
Ortiz was captured in the area of Brighton and Pacific Avenues.
He told police he had a firearm and was placed under arrest.
An unloaded revolver was found in an interior jacket pocket.
He was released after pleading guilty pending sentencing.
