Brigantine man, 82, arrested after allegedly firing gun

A Brigantine man was arrested after he allegedly fired shots Saturday evening.

Police were called to the area of 19th Street South and West Brigantine Avenue for the report of shots fired just before 6 p.m., police said.

Squad #2 members responded and found evidence of gunfire and the likely residence where the shots originated, according to the report.

Vito Pizzo, 82, was charged with second-degree possession of a firearm along with a summons for discharging the weapon within the city.

He was arrested Wednesday without incident, and is in police custody pending an initial hearing, Detective Sgt. Jack Glasser said.

The investigation is ongoing.
